We are part of a community and as a family-owned business, we are thankful for the support fromĀ the surrounding communities enablingĀ the Jaffarian business to survive andĀ grow in challenging times.Ā Giving back to the community is truly in our DNA.Ā It started with my grandfather and grandmother and it has been passed down to me and my brother from our parents and now to my son who is fourth generation in the business.Ā Ā Giving back and helping others, especially youth inĀ our local communities,Ā is especially important to us and how we operate on a daily basis. From supporting local Boys and Girls Clubs to our Aunt Sara, a librarian, who dedicated her life to preserving and supporting school libraries both locally and nationally - the Jaffarian family continues to give back and build stronger communities.
Jaffarian Volvo Toyota Provides Children at Emmaus the Tools Needed to Succeed in School

HAVERHILL, MA | For the second year in a row, the children living in Emmaus programs will be starting the school year next week with the tools they need to succeed thanks to the staff and customers of Jaffarian Volvo Toyota.Ā
Jaffarian
Volvo Toyota, located at 600 River Street in Haverhill hosted a schoolĀ supply
drive to benefit Emmaus during the months of July and August and through the
generosity of its employees and customers, collected dozens of backpacks as well as many pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, boxes of crayons and colored pencils, and other much-needed school supplies.

and CEO.
"We're thrilled to donate this truck full of school supplies to kids in our community because helping them is what it's all about," said Gary Jaffarian, president and CEO of Jaffarian Volvo Toyota.Ā "Our hope is that these donated items - from backpacks to ballpoint pens -- will help students start the school year off right with everything they need to fit in and thrive in the classroom. Thanks to Emmaus for partnering with us on this effort and doing so much for so many in our community."
Since 1985, Emmaus, located in Haverhill, MA, has helped more than 30,000 children and adults out of homelessness and toward self-sufficiency. This past year alone, Emmaus has helped 3,066 people, including 1,552 children through its shelters and housing programs.Ā On any given night, 300 adults and children will call Emmaus "home."Ā
In addition to its emergency shelters for families and individuals, Emmaus owns and operates 95 units of permanent affordable housing, serves over 85,000 meals annually, provides food in a regular basis to those residing in Emmaus housing, provides enrichment programs for school-aged children through Emmaus Explorers Program, the Empowerment Program, adult education and job-readiness programs.Ā
Emmaus' Volunteer and Gifts-In-Kind Manager Denise Arnold said she's been getting calls from mothers in the Emmaus programs asking if Emmaus had any extra backpacks and school supplies.Ā Arnold said when parents received the school supply list from the district, they quickly became overwhelmed.
"I had one mom show me her list and said 'how am I going to get all this?' I told her not to worry, we would help," Arnold said, adding that she has 30 families who have signed up for backpacks and school supplies, and anticipates more will come forward.Ā
"It's always wonderful working with Gary and the team at Jaffarian," Arnold said. "Gary is a great friend and he loves helping the children in this community.Ā You can really see how much he cares about the children and because of Jaffarian we can provide children with new supplies to start the school year off right."

Jaffarian helps local families in need get ready for back to school

"Working with Emmaus on efforts like is always rewarding for us at Jaffarian, as we know these goods will go directly to kids who need them most. Emmaus is a wonderful organization that does so much good for so many in our area, particularly youth, which is right in line with our focus of helping local kids."

Jaffarian Launches Youth in Motion ProgramĀ to Help Local Kids Embrace a Healthy, Active Lifestyle
Ā Pictured above are (from left to right):Ā Markus Fischer, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence; MannyĀ Ayala, Director of Program Services; Gary Jaffarian, President and CEO of Jaffarian Volvo Toyota; Kathy Pruett, Development Director,Ā Boys & Girls Club of Greater Haverhill; and BrianĀ Theirrien, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Haverhill.
Jaffarian Volvo Toyota launched theĀ Jaffarian Youth in Motion Fund, a charitable program that enables local youth in need to participate in sports and activities that provide structure, discipline, teach sportsmanship and, ultimately, promote a healthy, active lifestyle.Ā
To achieve this goal, The Jaffarian Youth in Motion Fund will allocate funds to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Haverhill and the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence.Ā Ā To launch the fund, each organization recently received a check for $5,000.Ā
The Jaffarian Youth in Motion Fund formed as a result of past charitable efforts, visits to each Club and multiple meetings with the directors. A clear fundamental need emerged to help local youth get involved in sports and activities that they otherwise might not have the opportunity to participate in or try. Jaffarian selected the Boys & Girls Clubs as they are perfectly positioned to readily identify needs and allocate funds directly to enable individuals to engage in these programs. The funds will be used to support positive "in motion" behavior, such as helping kids participate in team sports like football and baseball, partake in activities such as dance, swimming and martial arts classes, as well as learning to fish via summer camp programs.
Pictured above: Gary Jaffarian, President and CEO of Jaffarian Volvo Toyota (Center) with members of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Haverhill.
Ā
"Supporting youth sports/activities has been central to the Jaffarian culture from day one.Ā Ā My grandparents started this tradition and, as a third generation owner, I strive to keep that important legacy alive and well," said Gary Jaffarian, President and CEO, Jaffarian Volvo Toyota.Ā Ā "I hear all too often about deserving kids who can't participate in sports and activities because of financial issues and that's what inspired me to create this fund.Ā Ā My entire family has always believed that sports are healthy for both body and mind and can provide a tremendous sense of pride and accomplishment.Ā Ā We're delighted to extend those benefits to youth in our community through our relationship with the Greater Haverhill and Lawrence Boys & Girls Clubs."
"The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Haverhill is thrilled with the creation of the Jaffarian Youth in Motion Fund," said BrianĀ Theirrien, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Haverhill. Ā "Jaffarian's commitment to directly support our 'most in need' Club members is creative, inspiring and unique. The Youth in Motion Fund affords these members with additional opportunities to participate in relevant activities that promote healthy lifestyles.Ā Our sincere thanks to Jaffarian Volvo Toyota for helping the Boys & Girls Club to deliver on its mission, assuring that 'Great Futures Start Here.'"
"We are very grateful to be a recipient of the Jaffarian Youth in Motion Fund, which will provide critical funds for our core program area of healthy living," said Markus Fischer, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence. "Given that Lawrence is one of the poorest cities in the Commonwealth, it's not unusual for a club kid to want to join the swim team, but not own a swimsuit; for an aspiring basketball player's shoes to be literally falling apart; and for dancers to go to class barefoot because their families can't afford dance shoes. This fund will not only allow more kids to participate in activities, but to do so with confidence and a sense of belonging."
The Jaffarian Youth in Motion Fund continues the dealership's legacy of helping youth in Merrimack Valley participate in a variety of sports and exercise programs. Jaffarian has long had a passion for and commitment to giving back to the community in the area of youth sports.Ā Ā Over the years, the dealership has sponsored numerous sports teams, helped Haverhill High build a weight room, raised $50,000+ to offset the costs of participating in high school sports, and brought busloads of kids to Celtics and Red Sox games.Ā
