2012 Will Bring 25 Millionth Vehicle for Toyota North America

There's a lot of Toyota action going on inside our United States walls. So much so, in fact, that by the end of this year the busy automaker will produce its 25 millionth American-made vehicle. This milestone is especially inspirational considering Toyota is a comparatively young car manufacturer and is based in Japan.

What must one do to hit the 25-million vehicle mark? For one, reign in a whole lot of employee motivation. Fortunately, positive attitude and uncompromising drive are two things Toyota has a lot of. Proving this point, Shigeki Terashi, President and COO of Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America, exclaims, "Despite a challenging year due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that caused limited parts availability, Toyota's team members and supplying partners were able to ramp up production ahead of schedule."1

In addition to producing high volumes of current popular new Toyota models, the automaker also has plans to push start on future offerings this year. For example, an EV RAV4 will soon begin production in Woodstock, Ontario. This all-electric variant of the Toyota RAV4 will join other North American-made Toyota models such as the 2012 Camry and 2012 Highlander
